the most ethical
thing we can be
is really
ourselves
like really
authentically
our whole
integrated
human self.
for the moment we attempt
to be something
we are not –
especially to receive
love,
belonging,
acceptance
is the moment
we endorse
a system
of
conditional dignity.
and conditional dignity
fueled by moralism
is the mechanism
whose only outcome
is violence.
claiming our humanity
and its unconditional dignity
is an ethical practice that
subverts the systems of violence
and dehumanization in the world.
so be human –
as Brene brown says:
“don’t puff up
don’t shrink down
stand your sacred ground.”
accept it all
the good
the bad
the ugly
it’s all beautiful
because it’s all
so very human.
